Ex brgy official nabbed in drug buy bust

A former head of the barangay tanod or village peace and security officer was busted for selling shabu to a police officer acting as a poseur buyer during a buy bust operation in Barangay San Jose, Inabanga on Sunday, May 1, 2016.

Nilo Lapena, 41 years old, married is now facing charges for violation of section 5 (selling of dangerous drugs) and section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Seized from Lapena were nine sachets of suspected shabu weighing 1.06 grams.

He was tagged as a level three drug personality and was in the police watch list of drug dealers in Inabanga.

As a level three drug dealer, Lapena can sell shabu worth P100,000 according to the definition of the Dangerous Drug Board.

According to Inabanga Police Chief, Police Senior Inspector Roland Antipolo, the buy bust operation was based on numerous complaints from barangay residents on the uncontrolled proliferation of drugs among the youth in their area.

Several government officials are now under the police radar for their involvement in the lucrative drug trade in Bohol. (Chito M. Visarra with reports from Willie Maestrado)
