A policeman who tested positive for illegal drug use was relieved of his post at the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) pending further investigation.

Superintendent Ricky Delilis, BPPO public information officer, told DYRD Balita that the police officer was ordered to report to the Police Regional Office 7 headquarters in Cebu City as the regional branch took over the probe.

Delilis however still did not disclose the identity of the cop and other information regarding the case.

Only one BPPO personnel had so far tested positive for illegal drug use since the Philippine National Police (PNP) started its campaign to clean up its ranks.

While the drug-using cop was caught through random testing, no BPPO police has surrendered and voluntarily confessed to narcotics involvement, Delilis said.

Surprise drug testing was already conducted in several police stations across Bohol including Tagbilaran City, and will also be organized in other towns as the PNP sustains its anti-narcotics drive.

The BPPO has not yet released results of  surprise drug testing recently conducted among its personnel. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
