The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has already gathered pieces of evidence for its investigation on three of the five Philippine National Police (PNP) who are allegedly involved in illegal drugs.

Napolcom Vice Chairman Rogelio T. Casurao said the commission has a week to look into these pieces of evidence regarding the alleged involvement of the generals who are still in active service, namely, Chief Supt. Bernardo Diaz of the Police Regional Office 6, former National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Supt. Joel Pagdilao and former Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Chief Supt. Edgardo Tinio.

Casurao noted that these will determine if there is enough basis to pursue administrative cases against the three police officials.

With this, the Napolcom has created an Adhoc Committee for each of the three police generals.

These committees will focus on how these police officials will defend themselves against accusations of involvement in illegal drugs.

”Hindi naman pare pareho ang depensa niyan kaya we give them enough space and leeway to present their evidence to defend themselves para focus po ang isang adhoc committee sa kanila,” he said.

Once they are found guilty, the three police generals will be immediately dismissed from the service.

The three high-ranking police officials are now in floating status and reports at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame.

Aside from Diaz, Pagdilao and Tinio, President Rodrigo Duterte publicly named two retired police officials, former Deputy Director General Marcelo Garbo Jr. and former Chief Superintendent and now Daanbantayan, Cebu mayor Vicente Loot as protectors of illegal drug trade in the country.

Duterte made the announcement at the 69th Anniversary celebration of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) at the Clark Airbase in Mabalacat, Pampanga. (PNA)
