Amid the uproar of fixers and accusations of conniving employees of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Tagbilaran City District Office, the addition of another licensing unit in the present cramp office space has added to the present woes of the local transportation office.

LTO-Tagbilaran City Registrar Erwin Patalinghug told DYRD Balita that the Drivers License Renewal Center formerly holding office at the Island City Mall (ICM) has transferred to the main office at Dampas Road, Tagbilaran City.

The Drivers License Renewal Center did not renew their lease contract with ICM.

But observers said that regardless of the transfer of the renewal center, the length of the delay of transactions will remain since the number of employees has not changed.

Hopelessly undermanned, the LTO has been serving hundreds of clients with only twenty employees and casual workers paid by the city and provincial government, according to Patalinghug.

An increased in the number of clients with transactions in the office has increased from 300 to 400 a day.

Despite the lack of personnel, the LTO head office has turned a deaf ear to the appeal of local LTO officials for additional employees, but still expect them to deliver the desired quality of service as stated in their agency’s policy .(Chito M. Visarra and Rey Tutas)
