On September 24, 1991, Bohol Community Cable TV Systems, Inc., a Boholano-owned cable TV provider, opened its doors to the Boholano community and ushered in a new age of modern television viewing experience.

With BCCTV’s foray as pioneering and trailblazing cable television provider in Bohol, technical problems like fuzzy signal, blurry picture, snowy reception and even audio problems became a thing of the past.

Just like any fledgling company, BCCTV has had its share of ups and downs even as it surmounted the obstacles of a newly-opened company.

From a limited number of subscribers in Tagbilaran City, BCCTV has been able to expand its coverage areas. Quality cable TV viewing is now enjoyed also in the municipalities of Dauis, Baclayon, Alburquerque, Loay, Loboc, Dimiao, Valencia, Corella and Cortes.

From an initial offering of seven channels, the channel line-up hiked up to 12 then steadily increased as the years passed by. Presently, with over 80 local and international channels, BCCTV can claim to be the ultimate in optimum entertainment variety with cable TV subscribers having more options and a wider selection in TV programs ranging from news and current affairs, music video channels, telemagazine shows, entertainment channels to sports channels 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Constant upgrade has led to the installation of state-of-the art video and internet service and BCCTV’s use of fiber optic cable and US-made materials that are in line with its thrust and commitment to give its subscribers more added value services and to enhance their viewing pleasure.

More than just providing entertainment and news to the general Boholano community, BCCTV has become a part of Boholanos’ lives, an institution and a dynamic partner to the community through its coverage and telecast of important community events like its coverage of the local and national elections, the Sandugo Festival and international events like the visit of Miss Earth in 2002 and 2005.

BCCTV has also provided OJT linkages through its training partnership with the top universities in Bohol. Hitting the 25-year mark is not to sneeze at.

It has been an amazing journey.

It is a company milestone that deserves a celebration and time of gratitude.

Indeed, to turn silver is to reminisce, to recall and to remember how BCCTV’s journey has been in parallel tandem with the contemporary history of Bohol.
