At the same time the treasurer’s office in Anda was broken into and robbed of P300,000, an unidentified suspect also burgled the municipal hall of Balilihan on Monday.

According to Balilihan police chief Senior Insp. Dennis Lomor, the suspect broke into the town’s treasurer’s office inside the municipal hall between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.

Lomor said that the suspect was able to steal around P97,000 from two safety vaults by forcibly opening both containers using a saw.

The wooden door of the treasurer’s office was also opened by force, added Lomor.

This was first seen by a municipal hall employee who was about to report for work at 6 a.m.

Lomor said that they are still facing a blank wall in their investigation as they have not identified possible suspects in the crime.

In 2012, the same office was also burglarized. A large amount of money was also stolen, added the police officer.

No suspect was identified in relation to the first incident.

Authorities have speculated that the same suspect carried out the recent burglary.  (Allen Doydora)
