Burglar carts away P.2M in valuables, cash from Tagbilaran home

Cash and valuables amounting to more than P200,000 were stolen by an unidentified burglar who broke into a 41-year-old woman’s house in Lower Candait, Barangay Dampas in Tagbilaran City.

Victim Conchita Oculam who was away during the burglary told police that she found out that a thief broke into her house at around 6 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Oculam, no one was left at her residence the entire day as she was in Lila town together with her family during the incident.

She said that their male helper screamed that the house has been burgled when they arrived and he discovered that valuables had been stolen.

They discovered that the burglar broke a padlock and forced upon a sliding door to enter the house and cart away cash and valuables.

Oculam reported to police that she lost a two necklaces with pendants worth P75,000; two bracelets worth, P35,000; five pairs of earrings, P30,000 and six rings including a wedding ring worth P20,000.

Also allegedly stolen were motorcycle spare parts worth P45,000 and peso and dollar bills approximately amounting to P16,000.

Following the incident, the Tagbilaran City Police Station (TCPS) urged the public to not leave houses with no one to inside or unguarded amid rampant burglaries.

The TCPS’s theft and robbery section has been tasked to investigate the burglary of Oculam’s residence.
