Tagbilaran City, August 9, 2012 -- An installation ceremony was held on August 4, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. at Payag Restaurant for incoming officers and new members of the Tagbilaran City Host Lions Club. Ammon Denis R. Tirol was elected as the new club president for Lion Year 2012-2013. Tirol has been an active member of the Tagbilaran City Host Lions Club for the past 10 years. Other elected club officers were: Vice President - Felicitas U. Lim, Secretary - Priscilla Annette Richards, Treasurer - Raul P. Ingles, Auditor - Prima Obligado, Lion Tamer - Rufino Malalis, Lion Twister - Salvador Labado, PRO - Armando Maranga, Directors for 1 Yr. - George T. Lim, MJF -Velma R. Lim, Directors for 2 Yrs.-Victoria Labado, Amalia Tirol, Julieta Melicor.


The above elected club officers were inducted by District Governor Lion Manolo Lao,MJF who was also the Guest Speaker during the ceremony. He was introduced by Past President Lion Fely Lim. He is proud to be a Bol-anon, came from the town of Talibon. He is a Licensed Mechanical Engineer by profession and now a successful businessman residing in Cebu City with his family. He joined Mandaue Host Lions Club in 1995 up to present. He was inducted as the 3rd District Governor of District 301-B2 last month. District Governor Manolo Lao inspired all the Lions to continue serving the people focusing in his speech the theme of International Lion President Wayne Madden “In A World Of Service”.

The Charging and Induction of the seven new members was done by 1st Vice-District Governor Fr. Eduardo Ventic of Cebu Silangan Lions Club. The eight (8) new members were : Fr. Desiderio “Kiking”Magdoza, Danny Cosgafa, Kenneth Bongcac, Joseph Ligason, Armando Maranga, Joshibiah” Butch” Gaa de Juan, Min-min Garrote, and Raquel Weitekamp.

According to Tirol, as club president, “I am looking forward to leading various projects and continuing the Tagbilaran City Host Lion Club’s commitment to serving the community.”

62nd Induction Ceremony of Tagbilaran City Host Lions Club. Everybody enjoyed the social fellowship after the ceremony.

Since the club’s chartering in August 5, 1950, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community, such as feeding and sight screening program. Proceeds from past fundraising events have gone to relief assistance for victims of recent natural calamities. The club is currently planning sight screening and reading action program for school children.

The Tagbilaran City Host Lions Club has 41 members and meets every second Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Zoilo Dejaresco Hall, Oakbrook Library, Torralba St. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
