“Many Boholanos trust TARSIER 117 or Telephone and Radio System Integrated Emergency Response during emergenciesâ€; says Gov. Edgar Chatto during the recent anniversary of the Bohol’s prime emergency response unit.
According to the governor, people feel safe knowing that it was TARSIER who responded to their emergencies and concerns, as evident during typhoon Seniang late last year. “They demanded for TARSIER to rescue themâ€, he added.
For his part, Provincial Administrator and TARSIER Chief Operations Manager attested that TARSIER 117 has become a community byword, judging to numerous emergency calls and text messages by the community.
Damalerio also cited how TARSIER has grown and that it was not easy gaining people’s trust since it started.
TARSIER 117 was created and launched last March 25, 2011 pursuant to Executive Order no, 7-A as Bohol’s emergency response unit in crisis situation and a response to the growing effects of climate change.
Since its launching, TARSIER 117 has rendered public service the Boholano people and even foreign visitors and responded to emergencies to its clients.
Aside from its competent service, it has also responsive and efficient personnel dedicated to serve 24/7 or 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
Under the mandate of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), TARSIER 117 responses to all sorts of calls; varying from medical emergencies, traffic accidents, fire alarms and life saving situations, both in land and water and in peace and order concerns.
TARSIER also extended it responses to public safety and internal security being affiliated and enlisted as members of PAARU or Philippine Army Affiliate Reserve Unit.
Aside from responding to emergencies, it has also conducted different trainings to local disaster councils, private corporations, schools and other institutions.
Damalerio thanked the support of Boholanos, particularly those abroad, and other partner associations and agencies in the Philippines and U.S. for  additional rescue equipments and latest technologies as well as trainings for it personnel.
He assured Boholanos of TARSIER’s continued commitment to public safety, efficient response in their emergencies and public service. (EDCOM)
