Police concluded drugs had been behind the recent murder of a young man
Police identified the latest casualty of drug-related shooting incidents as one Pio John Aceron, a 26-year-old resident of Visarra St., Tagbilaran City.
Unidentified assailants shot Aceron early morning on Wednesday last week, hitting him in the right side of the head, neck and shoulder that caused the victim’s instantaneous death.
Police recovered three empty shells of 9 mm pistol at the crime scene.
They also recovered two sachets of shabu and some cash from the pocket Aceron’s pocket.
According to the intelligence section of the city police station, the victim had been in the watchlist of drug personalities.
The police team continues to hunt down the possible assailants, and investigate their specific connection with the victim.
Earlier, Provincial Intelligence Branch chief, Senior Inspector Jojit Mananquil, described the drug ring operating in Bohol as an organized crime group that employs hitmen tasked to liquidate pushers who would incur delinquency in the remittance of the proceeds.
In some of the previous cases, investigators theorized turf war as the motive in the killing of some drug personalities.
According to some classified information, there were cases wherein a pusher who accumulated delinquencies in their remittance would tend to transfer to another group and his previous group would be prompted to liquidate him.
