REP. Erico Aristotle Aumentado (Bohol, 2nd District) yesterday exhorted the members of the Bohol Council of the Alpha Kappa Rho (AKRHO) to join him in the fight against drugs.
Aumentado enlisted the help of the brotherhood-sisterhood of young adults as they celebrated their 42ndanniversary yesterday in Bool District, Tagbilaran City.
“I urge you to become active partners of government and civil society in the fight against illegal drugs,†he said.
“Let us partner together so that the moral fiber of the family will not be impaired or damaged by this social menace,†he added.
The solon said he is willing to partner with AKRHO to strengthen ties among families. The members themselves can provide advice and guidance even to peers outside of the fraternity who might be depressed or at the lowest point in their lives for them to bounce back.
Without this “pullâ€, depressed, desperate and problematic people are vulnerable to temptation – the “adventure†offered by drugs included.
Likewise, he encouraged the members to engage in worthwhile activities like sports and civic action.
Aumentado also praised the members for organizing themselves into a fraternity-sorority as its role in society is to promote brotherhood.
“Fraternities foster good relations among brothers and do not advocate gangsterism,†he said. (By JUNE S. BLANCO)
