In barely a week, two alleged drug personalities had been shot—one died, one survived.
Another alleged drug personality, also noted by the police as suspect in theft and robbery incidents, had been shot at past 10:45 p.m. Monday night at corner Lessage and Gallares Sts. in Poblacion 2, Tagbilaran City.
Tagbilaran City chief of police, Police Superintendent George Vale, identified the victim as one Emmanuel Padua, also known as “Tagalogâ€, a 33-year-old native of Talisayan, Dasmariñas Cavite, temporarily residing at Calceta St. in barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City.
The victim sustained a gunshot wounds at the right portion of the forehead and left cheek.
He was rushed to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital where he is now recuperating.
Investigators recovered two sachets of shabu from the victim’s possession and some drug paraphernalia.
Scene of the crime operatives recovered an empty slug of caliber 45.
According to the city chief of police, investigation focuses on the angle on the victim’s involvement in theft and robbery in the city.
As of now, Vale said the police continue hunt down of the gunman.
Meanwhile, just at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday last week, another alleged drug personality identified as one William Tan Velez, also known as “Gudoâ€, a 34-year-old native of barangay Upper Dela Paz, Cortes was shot dead at the roadside of Tamblot St., near the corner of B. Inting St.
Velez sustained gunshot wounds on the left cheek that went through the right side of the face, and one at the right eyebrow (second point of entry) with no exit point.
The victim had been arrested by the Highway Patrol Group in June last year along CPG North Avenue when found in possession of a cache of firearms in his vehicle, but had posted bail.
Scene of the crime operatives, led by Police Inspector Jovani Abregana, recovered a small container of Vicks vapor rub containing three small sachets containing suspected shabu granules, a medium sachet containing two big granules of suspected shabu and a piece of folded aluminum foil from the pockets of the victim.
Based on the post-mortem examinations conducted by Dr. Alvert Calvelo of City Health Office, the victim died from exsanguinations secondary to multiple gunshot wounds.
Velez temporarily resided at the New Capitol Site in Cogon District Tagbilaran City.
Based on the statement of the victim`s live-in partner, the man and woman seen fleeing from the crime scene right after the residents nearby heard two bursts of gunfire were actually the companion of the victim.
The cellphone recovered from the victim also shows messages indicating that he had been contacted to be at the place where the incident happened that night, for an illegal transaction.
