Christmas comes early this month of September as Island City Mall is giving away big discounts of up to 80% on selected items       at the Home & Fashion Department and participating tenant shops in the last day of the 3-day sale today, September 20.

The sale started last Friday, September 18, where budget-conscious customers enjoyed the hefty discounts given on great selections. As part of the sale, Vice Ganda Kalokalike, Daniel Aliermo, the ABS-CBN Showtime Kalokalike grand winner, entertained everyone yesterday afternoon, September 19, at the Activity Center.

Meanwhile,  Alturas Mall is set to celebrate its 30th Anniversary on November 24, this year, with a number of activities lined up to mark the occasion. Foremost in the anniversary celebration is the 28th Alturas Drum & Bugle Corps Showdown scheduled on November 21, at the CPG Sports Complex, where the best and the finest drum and bugle corps in Visayas and Mindanao will compete in three categories.   

More than a million pesos of cash prizes and allowances are given away in this year’s Showdown. The prizes to be awarded are Category A: Champion, P100,000 plus trophy; 1st Runner-Up, P70,000 plus trophy; 2nd Runner-Up, P50,000 plus trophy; Category B: Champion, P80,000 plus trophy; 1st Runner-Up, P60,000 plus trophy; 2nd Runner-Up, P40,000 plus trophy; Category C: Champion, P80,000 plus trophy; 1st Runner-Up, P60,000 plus trophy; 2nd Runner-Up, P40,000 plus trophy.

A P3,000 plus trophy will also be awarded to the drum corps in each category adjudged as Best in Production Design, Best in Instrumentation, Best in Choreography, and Best in Rhythm and Dynamics. For all categories combined, a cash prize of P1,000 plus trophy is awarded to the Best in Uniform, Best in Discipline, Best in Parade Impact, Best Corps Major, Best Corps Majorette, Darling of the Crowd, Best in Entertainment, Most Colorful Corps, Best in Boholano Ambience, Best in Synchronization, Best in Jingle, and Miss Alturas Showdown.

Dubbed as the “Greatest Show in Town”, the Alturas Showdown pits the best and the finest drum corps in Visayas and Mindanao. In recent years, contingents from General Santos City, Zamboanga del Norte, Davao, Cagayan de Oro City, Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Biliran Province, and Leyte had already participated in the Showdown. It is one of the most awaited events of the year in the Province of Bohol.
