The slate of the Yap-Veloso unity ticket of the Liberal Party (LP)will be completed before sundown today.
Mayor John Gessnell “Baba” Yap told The Chronicle that of the 10-man slate, only two slots are vacant until last night as he expected his running mate, Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso to officially announce on who will be picked for the two positions left for city councilors.
Confirmed in the “unity ticket” slate are the seven re-electionist councilors, namely, Adam Jala, Jojo Bompat, Jerry Pabe, Pepot Besas, Dulce Glovasa, Dodong Gonzaga and Betty Torralba. Added to the 8th slot was businessman Jonas Cacho.
Yap said that he heard of possible names to be filled up for the two vacant slots. However, he will respect Veloso to announce it anytime today.
They will file their certificates of candidacies at the City office of the Commission on Elections tomorrow after attending a Holy Mass at 10 in the morning.
Meanwhile, nothing official has surfaced on the reported plan of former Mayor Dan Lim to run for city mayor.
Lim was seen in the city last week but reportedly flew back to Manila the other day. Earlier, Lim’s older brother, Dr. Abe Lim who is based in the United States was earlier reported to arrive last Monday. However, until yesterday, the US based physician who lost during last year’s mayoralty race failed to arrive.
Confirmed with the ticket of Lim are City Councilor Lucille Lagunay, former City Councilor Doni Piqeuro, Barangay Captains Arelene Karaan and Laida Saco. It could not even be confirmed if under what political party will Lim and his slate will belong.
