The visit of Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas to Bohol today did not put a dent in his flagging survey standings as Boholanos stood firm on their choice of survey front runner Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to succeed President Benigno Aquino III.
In a phone – in survey conducted by DYRD “Inyong Alagad this morning, Wednesday, April 20, 2016, listeners were asked “Roxas has been a frequent visitor to Bohol considered the bailiwick of the ruling Liberal Party, will Roxas win in Bohol?”.
After a barrage of 54 callers in a span of an hour and a half – it ended in a dead heat.
After slamming Duterte for his “rape joke” in a similar survey yesterday, Boholanos still rallied behind their “idol” stressing the need for an “iron hand” to solve the drug menace, rampant criminality and the ineptitude of the present administration.
Roxas has shown his concern for the Boholanos during the October 13, 2013 earthquake staying in the province for more than ten days and gave priority to projects that directly impact on the lives of the more than a million Boholanos.
However, surveys, national and local has shown voters preference surging towards Duterte while Roxas has been in a tie for third with Binay.
Roxas is now banking on the much vaunted strength of the Liberal Party machinery to deliver the votes even as a so called “silent majority” backing Roxas is now slowly emerging to counter the passionate and die hard followers of Duterte.
Roxas is now in Bohol after his scheduled visit yesterday was postponed and is in a campaign swing in two towns – Ubay and Pilar. (Chito M. Visarra)
