Before investigators could conclude it’s rape, netizens already went up fuming on its possibility in yesterday’s death of a female employee of a lending company.
Boholanos reacted to the reported death of one Joyce Jabines, a 25-year-old secretary of Fundline Lending Company who hailed from barangay Tabuan, Antequera, in a boarding house at corner M.H. Del Pilar and Gallares Sts. in Poblacion II, this city.
Investigators still look into the angles on robbery and rape in determining the motive in the crime.
Friends and acquaintances aired in social media, the call for thorough investigation and fast delivery of justice as they condemn the incident.
Chief chief of police, Superintendent George Vale, said the police station received an information at around 3:40 p.m. that a woman had been murdered inside the room she rented at Reberta Galendes’ boarding house.
Vale sent SPO1 Agosto Cesario Sumaylo and PO2 Rofel Mendoza of the Criminal Investigation Section and the Quick Response Team to investigate the report.
Scene of the Crime Operatives, led by Police Inspector Giovanne Abregana, also checked the incident.
Initial investigation showed that at around 3:30 p.m., one Miraflor Payot, the victim’s roommate who hails from barangay Bood in Ubay found the victim with both hands and feet tied and her face covered with a bloody pillow.
Miraflor also narrated that their room was locked when she arrived that afternoon, so she used a knife to open the door.
She was shocked to see Jabines in such condition when she was about to get her foam.
Miraflor then informed the boarding house caretaker’s son—who was in his room then—about what she saw.
The caretaker’s son said the main door of the house was locked when he arrived earlier.
The SOCO team found a ring near the main door of the house. An immediate relative later positively identified it as the victim’s toe ring.
The victim sustained two stab wounds on the left side of the chest, while her entire face was tightly wrapped with a face towel and tape. Her bra, pants and underwear were slightly pulled down.
The victim was then brought to the Holy Name Funeral Home and the forensic investigator requested Dr. Kara Angelique Valles, resident obstetrician at Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital, to conduct vaginal swabbing.
Dr. Calvelo of the City Health Office who conducted the post-mortem examination found that the immediate cause of the victim’s death was multiple stab wounds, and asphyxia secondary to suffocation contributed to it.(with reports from Rey Tutas)
