Close to 470 newly hired teachers will oversee the education of more than 250 thousand students expected to enroll under the K to 12 basic education program in Bohol.
The new hires will teach students in the Grade 11 class only since enrollment for Grade 12 will start next school year.
The K to 12 program covers 13 years of basic education starting with Kindergarten to Grade 3, Grades 4 to 6, Grade 7 to 10 (Junior High School) and Grades 11 and 12 (Senior High School).
Desiderio Deligero, Chief of the Schools Governance and Operations Division of the Department of Education – Bohol Division told DYRD Balita that the new hires will occupy 9 positions for Master Teacher ll, six as Master Teacher l, Teacher lll with 16, Teacher ll with 323 and 117 for Teacher l.
Public schools numbering 129 excluding private schools are now opening their doors to the junior and senior high school levels of the K to 12 basic education program.
More enrollees to the K to 12 program are expected by DEP-ED Bohol to top the more than 250 thousand students that was recorded last year as the government will continue the Alayon, Giya, Amoma alang sa Kalampusan (AGAK) program.
AGAK is a child nurture program that envisions a 100% completion in basic education of all Boholano students.
Teachers will monitor the students attendance and progress and assist them to achieve their dream of completing the K to 12 program of the government.
RA 10533 known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 increasing the number of years for basic education was signed by President Benigno S. Aquino lll on May 15, 2013. (Chito M. Visarra with reports from Rey Tutas)
