Liberal Party standard bearer led by incumbent City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA†Yap and Vice-Mayor Jose Antonio “Toto†Veloso out classed their opponents in the recently concluded elections. Mayor Yap who was opposed by Arlene Karaan and Edgar Kapirig bowed down to the youngest mayor of the City who obtained the highest votes in the history of Tagbilaran City’s electoral process with 39,390, also the highest lead ever achieved in Tagbilaran’s polling history, with Karaan getting only 7,481 votes and Kapirig with 468. Vice-Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso also replicated the same victory, getting 37,164 votes as against Alfred Hontanosas with only 3,173 votes. LP City Councilor Jeremias Pabe did not make the cut and was replaced by Agalon Polinar. But all eleven occupied a sure slot come July 1. The newly-elected City Councilors led by Attorney Adam Relson Jala with 34,231 votes, Joseph Bompat with 30,136 votes, Philipp Besas with 29, 373, Alberta Torralba with 27,834, Dulce Chatto Glovasa with 27,184, Atty. Agustinus Gonzaga with 26,822, Jonas Cacho with 26,218, Eliezer Borja with 24,980, Agalon Polinar with 22,554 and Greggy Gatal with 20,466 were also proclaimed last May 10, 2016. A total of 83 clustered precincts with 84.50% or 50,660 voter’s turnout sealed the fate of the elected officials.
