The body of a man who has been missing for two days and was apparently stabbed to death was found in Barangay Sentinela, Ubay at 8am yesterday, June 9, 2016.
Local police said that the victim’s alleged drug involvement could be the reason behind the incident.
The victim, identified as John Rey Postanes, 36, a resident of Park 4 of the said barangay, was found dead with a five-inch stab wound that went through his left rib cage which is believed to be the cause of death.
Based on accounts of residents in the area, the victim had been missing since Tuesday, June 7, 2016 and was last seen at 6pm on the said day, the Ubay police said.
Postanes was reportedly told by his live-in partner to fetch water but never came back.
Residents also said that the victim was seen on a motorcycle with his cousin Aldren “Waway†Cañete who is also from Barangay Sentinela.
On the same day, both were together and were on their way to a poultry house where a woman who is allegedly involved in illegal drugs was waiting.
Authorities said that a conflict may have taken place during the said meeting which led to the crime.
The unidentified woman and Cañete have not been seen by the police while reports indicate that both have left for Cebu.
The victim was reportedly an illegal drug user.
