The Ubay Police Station, in its bid to stamp out the growing menace of illegal drugs in the municipality arrested a 33-year-old man during an anti-illegal drug operation on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 4 P.M. in Purok 7, Barangay Achila.
Caught in a buy-bust operation was Ramil Fernandez, a resident of Sitio Moto, Purok 6, Barangay Hagbuyo, San Miguel.
The arrest of Fernandez came on the heels of another successful buy bust operation on Sunday, June 12, 2016 in Barangay Fatima after two suspected drug pushers – Mary Jane Roselis and Kenny Bonilla were caught selling shabu to undercover police officers.
Fernandez was nabbed after turning over to a police poseur buyer one sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for P200.00 marked money including 6 sachets stuffed with shabu found hidden in his wallet.
An inventory of the seized drugs was witnessed by Achilla barangay councilors Honilano Torrefiel and Marialyn Taroja.
The drug operation was led by Police Senior Inspector Joseph Berondo in coordination of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Police Officer lll Ronald Quilaton, desk officer of the Ubay Police Station told DYRD Balita that two barangays have been identified as drug infested – Barangay Poblacion and Achilla.
