Charges will be filed against the driver of a crashed vehicle that was found by police littered with packets of suspected shabu and 9mm shells last Thursday in Barangay Tapal, Ubay.
According to P01 Dennis Dapiton of the Ubay Police Station, the driver of the new blue Toyota Wigo that had no plate number was identified as Virgilio Besas, a resident of Barangay Poblacion in the said town.
The suspect was identified through information from residents of Barangay Tapal who were familiar with the color and make of the vehicle he was driving.
An intelligence report which noted that Besas was seen numerous times driving the said car also supported the finding, Dapiton said.
The suspect remains at large while the police continue to look for him including an unidentified woman who was with Besas last Thursday when he escaped from authorities who confronted him and crashed the said vehicle into an electric post.
According to Dapiton, charges will be filed against Besas for possession of illegal drugs and violating RA 10591 or illegal possession of ammunition even if the suspect is still at large.
Meanwhile, the authorities are still verifying who owns the vehicle which is currently in the custody of the Ubay police. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
