After 94 drug personalities in Panglao yielded to authorities last Thursday, those also involved in drug activities in Alicia followed suit and turned themselves in at the town’s police station.

According to PO3 Ferdinand Tutor, investigator at the Alicia Police Station, four drug personalities in the town surrendered at the police office yesterday.

The suspects voluntarily told the authorities through a sworn statement narratives of when they started using illegal drugs and where they purchased them.

The four suspects will undergo drug testing following their surrender.

Tutor told DYRD Balita that almost all of the 15 barangays in Alicia are affected by drug activities as each village in the town reportedly has drug users.

There are 14 drug suspects in the watch list of the Alicia police and each are from different barangays, he added.

However, Tutor noted that there are fewer drug pushers in the town compared to neighboring municipalities as users in Alicia are getting supply from outside the area.

The surrender of the suspects was a result of Oplan Tokhang (tok-tok hangyo or knock and persuade) which involves police and barangay officials visiting alleged drug personalities and convincing them to stop their participation in illegal activities.

Meanwhile, the Alicia police continues its anti-illegal drugs campaign through buy-bust operations.

This week, a drug pusher identified as Edgardo Gumopas, a reseident of Prk 6, Barangay Napo in the said town, sold drugs to a poseur-buyer resulting to his arrest.
