Typhoon Butchoy, the second storm to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), caused minimal effects on areas across the country particularly in Bohol.
The typhoon was located over the Batanes Group of Islands where Signal No. 1 was hoisted according to the local office of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
While continuing its northwest movement, the storm packed maximum winds of 195 kilometers per hour with gusts of up to 230 kph.
The weather bureau forecasted that Butchoy will be out of the PAR by Staurday morning.
According to PAGASA Bohol, the province is only experiencing the southwest monsoon and light rains as the typhoon moves farther from the Visayas region.
However, light rains and moderate showers lasting for several minutes are expected during the next few days. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
