Dauis Municipal Mayor Marietta Sumaylo, stung by malicious and baseless accusations of engaging in the illegal drug trade, carried out a surprise urine drug test on all municipal employees this morning.

The drug test came as a complete surprise for the employees after the announcement was made right after the flag ceremony when all employees were ready for work.

Sumaylo told DYRD Balita that “this was not a random drug test but all employees were covered”.

According to Sumaylo, 80 regular and 80 casual employees were put through the urine test which costs P300 per employee.

But several employees who got wind of the drug test took off using a door in the second floor.

Sumaylo told DYRD “Action Line” that those employees who failed to take the drug test will undergo screening upon reporting for work on Tuesday.

Court employees of the 14th Municipal Circuit Trial Court – Dauis, Panglao under Judge Raul Barbarona were also included in the drug test.

Drug test were also conducted among members of the Dauis Police Station and will eventually include barangay officials. (Chito M. Visarra and Rey Tutas)
