A number of drug personalities who have pledged before Tagbilaran City authorities to stop peddling and using the harmful substance remain involved in illegal drug activities, the city police chief said.

According to Supt. George Vale, Tagbilaran City police chief, authorities continue to encounter listed drug users and pushers, who have previously yielded to the city police station, in recent monitoring and anti-illegal drugs operations.

Vale had personally seen and faced the said suspects during their formal submission to authorities but some of them have been rounded up in buy-bust operations and drug raids.

This week, police collared Jayson Dote, alias “Tamvas”, who was the latest addition to the list of drug personalities who yielded but still remained involved in drugs.

During his arrest, Dote immediately admitted to police that he had indeed already surrendered before.

On Thursday, Zoilo Garcia, also a drug personality in Tagbilaran City, was gunned down by a still unidentified suspect.

Vale warned drug personalities in the city that the oath they took before authorities are not to be taken lightly as the city police force would relentlessly go after them should they use their surrender as ruse to mislead cops.

He said that while drug personalities continue to engage in illegal activities, their lives and freedom are in constant danger.

Meanwhile, police in various towns reported that drug users and pushers who had surrendered in their respective areas also continue to conduct illegal drug activities.

Some of the said suspects have also been killed amid reports that they continue to use or peddle drugs.
