A 13-year-old boy accidentally shot and wounded himself with an improvised gun he made in Calape yesterday, July 24, 2016.
The victim whose name was not disclosed was secretly working on the makeshift firearm with a 16-year-old male companion near a creek in Barangay Liboron when his test-fire of the gun failed according to reports that reached DYRD Balita.
The improvised gun reportedly failed to fire out the .357 bullet the minors used causing it to backfire.
The bullet shell went toward the victim instead hitting him in the right side of his waist.
He was immediately rushed to hospital after his companion called for help.
The victim sustained two wounds from the backfire but is no longer in critical condition as he continues to recuperate at the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City.
The Calape police is conducting an investigation to find out where the victim and his companion obtained materials and tools to make the improvised firearm and what the minors intended to do with the weapon. (Allen Doydora)
