The local office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) once again called on qualified Boholano voters for the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections to register before the deadline.
According to Atty. Ariel Selma, city Comelec registrar, the poll body will only accept registrants until July 30, 2016 while a deadline extension is unlikely to be set.
Those who registered for the May 2016 presidential elections are not allowed to register in other locations as the office is not accommodating transferees, Selma said.
In line with the upcoming polls, the SK Reform Law which allows those aged 15-30 to vote in the SK elections was implemented this year.
Meanwhile, those who are allowed to run for SK office are those aged 18-24.
Selma also urged those who have deactivated registrations due to the failure to vote on two elections to have their records reactivated.
Voters may have their registrations reactivated at the Comelec office where they initially registered, Selma said, adding that failure to have their records processed will disqualify them as voters for the barangay and SK elections.
The registration started on July 15, 2016 while the elections are set in October this year. (Allen Doyodra)
