Camp Dagohoy houses several police offices and facilities including the headquarters of the Bohol Provincial Police Office.

Some drug dealers stop at nothing to keep their trade going, even if it means smuggling the illegal substance into the heart of the Bohol police force.

In the heat of the police’s crackdown on drugs, Maria Luisa Merca, 45, along with nephew 20-year-old John Graciosa, attempted to sneak in shabu into a detention facility at Camp Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City on Tuesday night.

The suspects were visiting alleged pusher Dennis Ones, a detainee facing drug charges, to apparently pass on the contraband to the inmate.

According to the police, the smuggle attempt was foiled when PO3 Romeo Golosino who was detailed to guard the lock-up jail inspected the food carried by the suspects which yielded two packs of shabu hidden inside a loaf bread.

Meanwhile, Ones was about to take in a pack of shabu inside a cellophane bag from Merca but was immediately discovered by the authorities.

Police at the detention facility also recovered drug paraphernalia hidden inside a package of assorted food brought in by the suspects.

Based on a chemistry report, the white crystalline substance confiscated from the suspects was indeed shabu which, according to police, was supposed to be peddled to other detainees inside the lock-up jail.

Charges for violation of Section 11 of RA 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the suspects who are both Tagbilaran residents. (Willy Maestrado)
