In barely two months, around P3-million worth of shabu had already been confiscated through aggressive campaign against illegal drugs in the province.

Police provincial director, Senior Supt. Felipe Natividad, reported during the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting on July 29 that the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) recorded a total of 94 operations which resulted to the arrest of 129 persons, confiscation of a total of 273.66 grams of shabu with estimated value of P3.229 million, and filing of 190 cases in court.

Natividad said 49 of these operations were conducted in the month of June which resulted to the arrest of 59 persons, confiscation of 156.28 grams of shabu with estimated value of P1.844 million, and filing of 89 cases.

From July 1-27, the BPPO recorded 45 operations conducted where 70 persons were arrested and 116.1 grams of shabu were confiscated with estimated value of P1.377 million, and the filing of 101 cases in court.

Natividad also reported that the BPPO already recorded a total of 30,287 drug personalities who yielded to the police through Project Tokhang from July 1-29.

Among them were 29,108 self-confessed drug users, and 1,179 self-confessed drug pushers.

This resulted from appeals made to 17,298 households that the police teams and barangay officials had visited during the period.

On the part of PDEA-Bohol, provincial officer Cornelio Espartero reported that they had worked with the PNP and NBI in 34 buy-bust operations, nine drug raids, 16 test buy operations, 15 surveillance operations, in responding to two instances of persons caught in the act (in flagrante delicto), and in serving one warrant of arrest related to violations of RA 9165 in the month of June.

Espartero also reported that PDEA-Bohol had also worked with other law enforcement agencies in 31 intelligence operations, 34 buy-bust operations, nine raids, one in flagrante delicto, and in serving one warrant of arrest.

PDEA-Bohol also joined with the authorities of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Bohol in conducting a search and seizure operation at Tagbilaran City Jail, Bohol on June 22.

On June 20, joint elements of PDEA-Bohol and BJMP conducted a search and seizure operation at Tagbilaran City Jail which resulted to the confiscation of five sachets of shabu with estimated weight of 25.0 grams worth P250,000 from one Walter Bolanio Malate and one Rex Capangpangan Survilla.

Natividad said they continue to balance the supply reduction approach with the demand reduction approach by conducting awareness fora, delving on the ill effects of drug abuse to the body.
