Water supply to around 200 homes are set to be cut off by the Tagbilaran City Waterworks Systems (TCWS) due to water bills that have not been paid for up to 10 years.

Engineer Peter Busano, TCWS chief, told DYRD Balita that their office has started to disconnect access to water of residents who have not paid water bills for five to 10 years.

The disconnection operations are already being carried out in Barangay Mangga and will continue in other Tagbilaran City villages in the next weeks.

Busano noted that there are water consumers who have unpaid bills in almost every barangay in the city.

The unpaid water bills are worth an average of P15,000 each, he added.

The TCWS has been conducting constant collection attempts while a disconnection notice has already been issued to each of the said residents.

The notifications were forwarded last year but many have still not settled their accounts, Busano said.

According to the city official, the TCWS will no longer extend the deadline for non-paying consumers and reconnection would require the complete payment of unpaid bills. (Allen Doydora)
