The Tagbilaran City police pinpointed three villages in the city where illegal drug activities remain rampant amid the government’s intensified crackdown on illegal narcotics.
Superintendent Nicomedes Olaivar, Tagbilaran City police chief, told DYRD Balita that illegal drugs remain widespread in barangays Mansasa, Cogon and Manga, three highly populated villages in the city.
Based on police intelligence reports disclosed by Olaivar, the barangays of Poblacion 1, 2 and 3 are also rife with illegal narcotics.
Olaivar attributed the prevalence of drugs in the said villages to the high number of residents and the slew of businesses located in the areas.
Nevertheless, drug activities in the city reportedly plummeted by 15 percent since Olaivar took the helm of the Tagbilaran CIty police force less than a month ago.
Olaivar said that the Tagbilaran City police station is manned by only 80 policemen as he urged the public to lend a hand in efforts to minimize, and eventually abolish, illegal drug activities in the city and the entire province. (Rey Tutas) Â
