Bohol coconut farmers will be allocated their fair share of the P72.5 billion coco levy fund through the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA)
This was made sure by Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. in efforts to bolster the province’s coconut industry and extend finances to small coconut farmers, said Emiliano Romero, provincial manager of the PCA in Bohol.
Romero told DYRD Balita that Evasco directed the Bohol PCA to devise projects for coconut farmers who will be given amounts from the coco levy fund.
A large chunk of the said fund is expected to be allocated to Bohol as the province has a big population of coconut farmers.
Romero noted that coconut farmer organizations in the province have thousands of members.
The multibillion-peso coconut levy fund currently remains with the national treasury pending the release of guidelines on the use of the amount.
During his election campaign, President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to have the coco levy fund released early in his term. (Allen Doydora)
