Intelligence officers of the Bohol police collared a man ranked second in Tagbilaran City’s watch list of drug personalities during a buy-bust operation on Monday night.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Jeffrey Trumpeta, an alleged street-level drug personality, was arrested near his residence in Purok 3, Barangay Ubujan, Tagbilaran City.
After his alleged drug transaction with a police poseur-buyer, Trumpeta , on board a multicab, reportedly attempted to escape from operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB).
However, responding police officers stationed around the buy-bust area were able to block the escape attempt and restrain the suspect.
According to a police report, the operatives recovered 12 small sachets of suspected shabu in the possession of Trumpeta.
It noted that the buy-bust was set in motion after neighbors of Trumpeta reported to authorities that the suspect continued to sell illegal drugs.
Superintendent George Vale, chief of the PIB, said that Trumpeta had already surrendered to authorities of the Tagbilaran City police twice for involvement in illegal drug activities.
The suspect will be charged with criminal cases for violating Republic act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Willy Maestrado)
