Vigilante-style killings continue in the province as another drug-linked individual was shot dead by an unidentified suspect on Saturday in Trinidad.
The victim, a self-confessed drug personality, was gunned down in Purok 5, Brgy. Catoogan, in the said town.
Police identified the fatality as 31-year-old Roque Ibale, a resident of Sitio Son-oc, Brgy. Poblacion, Ubay.
Ibale sustained a gunshot wound in his head causing his instantaneous death.
Authorities of the Trinidad police station are still conducting an investigation to identify the gunman and the motive behind Ibale’s murder.
Investigators are looking into Ibale’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities as a motive in the fatal shooting of the victim.
According to police, the victim previously surrendered through Oplan Tokhang as a drug user and pusher.
Previously, Bohol police public information officer Supt. Ricky Delilis said there are five cases involving the murder of drug suspects whose assailants are yet to be identified.
The last victim of a gun attack carried out by unidentified suspects was SPO1 Rolex Tamarra, who was shot dead last month in Corella.
He was suspected of protecting illegal drug pushers and traders in Bohol.
However, the Bohol Provincial Police Office has debunked speculations that vigilantes are behind the killing of drug suspects in the province.
They said that the murders of alleged drug personalities are likely to be the handiwork of drug syndicates which are in conflict with the victims. (Allen Doydora)
