Four minors including an infant on board a motorcycle were killed after they were run over by a public utility vehicle (PUV) in Talibon town at 5:40 p.m. on Monday.
Talibon police said that an overtaking motorcycle grazed the victims’ Euro Motor 110 causing its driver to lose control and the vehicle to crash along the municipal road in Barangay Poblacion, Talibon.
Witnesses noted that the victims were thrown away from their motorcycle and were run over by a PUV Â van travelling toward the opposite direction.
The fatalities were identified as Junel Ramos, 4; Kirby Bagtong, 10; Renchen Balmores, a 20-month-old boy; and the driver, Marvin Bagtong, 17.
The other motorcycle which hit the victims’ vehicle reportedly sped away.
Meanwhile, the van’s driver, Esmeraldo Bonior of San Miguel town, and a concerned citizen rushed the four minors to a nearby hospital.
However, Ramos died on the way to the Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital.
The three other victims were brought to Tagbilaran City for treatment but Kirby Bagtong succumbed to his injuries while on the ambulance.
On Tuesday dawn, infant Balmores also passed away due to injuries sustained while Bugtong died a few hours after.
Police said that the driver of the van who initially brought the victims to the hospital immediately surrendered to authorities. (Allen Doydora)
