Bohol’s development will be among the top priorities of the Duterte administration.

This was the assurance made by Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. who said that approval of major projects will be made easier with two Boholanos in Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet.

Evasco said that he and fellow Boholano Ernesto Pernia, National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) director general, are eyeing projects that would bolster the province’s growth.

The former Maribojoc mayor noted that the welfare of his home province transcends politics, as he assured the public of a hastened approval of Bohol projects.

Recently, two multi-billion projects, the “variation design” for the New Bohol Airport and the modernization of the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH), were approved by the NEDA board.

In the variation design, three boarding bridges and additional 500 meters in runway length will be integrated into the initial plan for the airport in Panglao.

Major additions will also be implemented in the modernization project of the GCGMH as bed capacity of the revamped hospital was raised to 500 from 225.

The project upgrade also includes the site development, and construction and purchase of warehouse building, medical equipment and information technology systems.

The two Bohol projects are among nine “big-ticket” national projects approved by the NEDA board under the Duterte administration.
