Sikatuna Mayor Jose Ellorimo expressed willingness to sell the town’s water supply to neighboring municipalities through a private company.
Ellorimo said that Sikatuna has the potential to supply water to other towns due to its abundant water resources.
However, the mayor admitted that the local government unit (LGU) would not be able to launch the venture soon citing lack of adequate facilities.
According to Ellorimo, an investor had proposed to buy water supply from the town but the offer was turned down by the LGU.
He noted that Sikatuna’s water distribution system needs further development as several villages in the town has had problems with supply despite the abundance of water resources in the area.
Sikatuna has been encountering problems with its system particularly the machine that distributes water which has been bogging down, he said.
Last week, several areas in Sikatuna experienced problems with water supply for almost a week due to the said machine’s failure.
According to Ellorimo, Sikatuna has enough resources to sell water but noted that the LGUÂ will first prioritize consumers within the town.
Based on studies, the towns of Corella, Catigbian, Balilihan and Sikatuna have abundant water source. (Allen Doydora)Â
