Second District Congressman Aristotle Aumentado issued a statement thanking Health Sec. Paulyn Ubial for allocating P45 million for the construction of a Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) ward in an Ubay hospital.
According to Aumentdao, the project was among the goals of his late father, former congressman Erico Aumentado, who aspired to implement the initiative in Ubay as an effort to provide healthcare to 35 island-barangays in the second district.
Aumentado said that although the PhilHealth ward will be built at the Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital in Ubay, the five-story facility is intended to also cater to neighboring towns, including those in the third district.
He noted that economic progress would not be as significant “if the citizenry suffers from various ailments due to inadequate healthcare.â€
Aumentado said that the project also includes the construction and improvement of several facilities of the government-owned hospital.
On Wednesday last week, the groundbreaking ceremony of the facility was held at the ISO (International Standards Organization)-accredited hospital with Department of Health Assistant Sec. Leonita Gorgolon in attendance. (Rey Tutas)Â
