The month of October is declared, under Presidential Proclamation No. 647, as National Statistics Month. Â First observed in the year 1990 this is the 27thyear that this event has been celebrated. Â
This year’s celebration goes with the theme “Sustainable Development: Making Statistics Countâ€, highlights the critical role of statistics in monitoring the country’s progress towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
PSA Bohol provincial head Jessamyn Anne Alcazaren bared that one of the activities scheduled in conjunction with the month long celebration isdata dissemination on the results of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN) set on the 21st of October, 2016. Â The venue will be at the Kew Hotel. Â The latest population levels and trends across regions and provinces of the country will be show cased.
In addition, aposter making/painting contest will be held on 20th of October. Â This contest is open to all junior and senior high school students enrolled in public and private schools in the city of Tagbilaran. All government agencies and local government units are adjured to take part in the celebration which aims at promoting and enhancing awareness and importance of statistics to the different sectors of society and to elicit the support of the general public in upgrading the quality of statistics in our country.
Alcazaren added that; “the support of government agencies and local government units in the province in their efforts in putting/hanging of streamers and different activities advocating the  significance of the month long celebration is highly appreciated by the office.â€
