Three members of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) have tested positive for illegal drug use as a result of the battery of random drug testing conducted in police stations across the province.
According P/Supt. George Vale chief of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB), the alleged drug-using police officers whose identities were not revealed have not been dismissed from service.
Vale said that a formal process will be conducted in determining the possible actions against the erring policemen.
In line with the development, the police official bared that the BPPO is currently investigating and monitoring policemen suspected of being drug protectors.
He said that that they have been receiving information on the suspects but these are still being validated.
With the gathered intelligence reports, Vale, the former Tagbilaran CIty police chief, issued a warning to cops who continue to be involved in illegal drug activities.
He said that they would eventually be brought to justice as the government sustains its anti-illegal drug drive.
Last month, PO3 Irmon Butil who was an active police officer of the the Lila Municpal Police Station was gunned by Panglao police after allegedly resisting arrest during a buy-bust operation against him.
Butil was tagged by alleged big-time drug pushers in Bohol as drug protector before he was killed. (Allen Doydora)Â
