Two men were rounded up in Loon by police on Thursday for involvement in illegal numbers game swertres amid the intensified crackdown on unauthorized gambling in Bohol and the rest of Central Visayas.

Joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Loon Police Station arrested Andrew Magallen, 44, and Jorge Pesidas, 33, both residents of said town.

The composite team allegedly confirmed the two suspects’ involvement in the illegal numbers game after responding to complaints against Magallen and Pesidas.

Police confiscated from the suspects illegal gambling paraphernalia including money believed to be proceeds from swertres operations.

The two suspects are currently jailed at the detention facility in Camp Dagohoy pending the filing of charges against them.

According to P/Senior Insp. Edwin Mateo, the intensified drive against illegal numbers game in the province has been ordered by the Cebu City-based Police Regional Office 7 amid reports of rampant illegal gambling and numbers game activities in Bohol.

Several anti-illegal gambling operations have been conducted by local police particularly in Tagbilaran City in previous weeks which resulted in the arrests of various illegal gambling suspects including alleged swertres coordinators. (Wellie Maestrado)
