City councilor Alberta Torralba on Tuesday proposed the construction of footbridges near two schools along CPG North Avenue in Tagbilaran City.
The proposal was put forward following the approval of an ordinance involving two pedestrian overpasses which will connect BQ Mall to City Sqaure and the latter to Alturas Mall.
Torralba pinpointed the Doctor Cecilio Putong National High School, formerly Bohol High School, and Bohol Wisdom School as locations of the two proposed footbridges.
The city lawmaker said that the overpasses will keep students safe amid heavy traffic in said areas.
She noted that both institutions have among the largest student populations in Tagbilaran City.
Councilor Dodong Polinar who chairs the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s committee on engineering and public works expressed support for Torralba’s proposal.
He said that he will be filing Torralba’s proposition as a bill in the council’s next session.
Polinar also authored the ordinance stipulating the construction of the two footbridges connecting the shopping and food outlet centers along CPG Avenue. It was approved by the SP on Friday last week.
According to the city legislator, Sen. Manny Pacquiao will be allocating funds for the said project. (Allen Doydora)
