The preliminary investigation on the human trafficking and child abuse charges filed against Matthew and Dalisay Dwinells will be conducted tomorrow.

The camp of the Dwinells couple is expected to file counter affidavit including those of their witnesses during the hearing.

One of the possible witnesses for the Dwinellses is a pastor of the couple’s church, Pete Valdez of the Sovereign Grace Church who told DYRD Balita that he would also be submitting an affidavit.

The Dwinellses’ lawyer, Atty. Handel Lagunay, expressed confidence that the trafficking in person and child abuse complaints filed against his clients will not qualify.

He said that the couple did not violate the Anti-Human Trafficking Act noting that Dalisay and Matthew did not profit from taking into their custody the 38 rescued children through prostitution or child labor.

Lagunay added that the Dwinells couple did not take the children to Bohol by force or by making threats.

The Dwinellses were charged with human trafficking and child abuse on Monday for allegedly housing minors at an orphanage and transporting them to Bohol from Cebu and Leyte without permits among other accusations.

They have since countered allegations noting that that they have properly taken care of the children who were housed inside their home in Brgy. Bool, Tagbilaran City. (Allen Doydora)
