In preparation for the expected vehicle congestion in the vicinity of cemeteries, a traffic rerouting scheme is set to be implemented on All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days in Tagbilaran City, an official of the city traffic bureau said.

Roads around the Dampas Catholic Cemetery will be converted into one-way streets, said Tony Samante, chief of the City Traffic Management Bureau (CTMO).

According to Samante, Happy Valley St. and Mansasa-Dampas Rd. from M. Parras Extension will be made into one-way traffic while vehicles will not be allowed to enter the street leading to the Alturas warehouse from the Dampas Barangay Hall.

Provincial buses from the Integrated Bus Terminal going to interior and eastern towns will also be rerouted.

Said buses will instead make a left turn at the Dampas Barangay Hall and head toward Camella Homes in Brgy. Bool while those passing through Enerio St. near the LTO Office will make a right turn going to the Circumferential Rd.

Samante said that the Victoria Memorial Park and Taloto Catholic Cemetery will be implementing their own traffic systems in the vicinity of the said cemeteries.

Meanwhile, the Tagbilaran City police will be implementing strict security measures and will be banning liquor, bladed items such as knives and ice picks, stereos and karaoke machines inside cemeteries.

According to Samante, emergency stations will also be set up in strategic areas in cemeteries by government authorities and personnel of Tarsier 117.

For its part, the Tagbilaran City Bureau of Fire Protection reminded the public to not leave lighted candles unattended and noted that a fire truck will be stationed in each of the memorial parks in the city. (Allen Doydora)
