Eight bishops including Archbishop Bernardito Auza, papal nuncio and permanent observer of the Vatican to the United Nations, will be joining the Diocese of Tagbilaran’s three-day diamond jubilee.
This was announced by Fr. Agerio Paña, chancellor of the Tagbilaran City diocese, through an interview with DYRD Balita.
The Boholano bishops who will be joining the celebration of the diocese’s 75th anniversary are Archbishop Jose Advincula of the Diocese of Capiz, Military Ordinariate Bishop Leopoldo Tumulak, Bishop Jose Bantolo of the Diocsese of Masbate, Bishop Antonieto Cabahug of the Diocese of Surigao, Bishop Patrick Daniel Parcon sa Diocese of Talibon, Bishop Arturo Bastes of the Diocese of Sorsogon and Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos of the Diocese of Butuan.
According to Paña, the event will start on November 6 and end on November 8.
During the first day of the celebration, attendees will pay tribute to recently replaced bishop of the Tagbilran City diocese, Msgr. Leonardo Medroso who celebrates his 78th birthday on same day.
The event will be followed by a Eucharistic celebration at the St. Joseph’s Cathedral which will be led by Medroso.
On the same day, the diocese will then start an outreach program themed “Breaking Bread through Service.â€
Participants which include doctors and other health practitioners will hold a medical mission for the underprivileged, sick and homeless at Plaza Rizal.
The event’s third and final day will showcase a Barrio Fiesta at the Basic Ecclesial Community and a fireworks display at the cathedral grounds.
Paña said that the diocses is still planning an preparing other activities for the celebration. (Rey Tutas)
