Police are now tracking down a man who was caught by a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera stealing a wallet from a seaman with the help of a female child inside a fast food chain in the city.

The victim, 27-year-old Roniel Palac, a resident of Brgy. Cutcutan, Valencia reportedly lost cash amounting $500 or around P24,000 in what was believed to be a “salisi” modus.

Palac narrated that while eating with his wife, sister and nephew at a Mang Inasal joint along Gallares St, Tagbilaran City the suspect and the child sat behind them.

The suspect, a man believed to be in his 40s, and a girl who appeared to be about 5 years old stood up after having stolen the wallet but did not raise suspicion from the Palacs.

The incident was captured by the establishment’s CCTV camera which showed that the suspect used the child to cover him while he was reaching for the victim’s wallet inside a shoulder bag.

After committing the crime, the suspect and the child casually left the restaurant.

Police have yet to identify the suspect. (Allen Doydora)
