The remains of the late Dr. Luther Z. Ramiro, founder of the Ramiro Hospital will be laid to his rest after a committal service at the Victoria Memorial Park this afternoon.

The 91-year old medical practitioner died in his sleep Sunday dawn which was also the observance of the Reformation Sunday of the Protestant church honoring Martin Luther, after whom Dr. Luther was named.

His active leadership in the medical profession carved a name that definitely stands out when healthcare services in the province is being talked about. (Read more: Lifestyle)

As a civic leader, the late Ramiro was a pillar of the Rotary Club being a charter member and a former outstanding president.

Together with his wife, Dinah Lumain Ramiro, the couple opened the 10-bed Ramiro Clinic in 1975. The couple, including their children personally managed the hospital. Two of their children and four grand children are in the medical field assuring the continuity of service of the family owned hospital.

He is survived by wife, Dinah and children Dr. Ronald L. Ramiro, is a surgeon and married to Dr. Jane Regner-Ramiro, a cardiologist. The second child, Oliver, a B.S. Commerce graduate is married to Ermilinda Castrodes-Ramiro, a chemical engineer. Third child, Norman, a B.S. Psychology graduate is married to Dr. Aida Lim- Ramiro, an OB-GYN specialist. The fourth, Dr. Audrey Ramiro, is also a doctor of medicine and currently the Hospital Administrator while the youngest, Lauren, finished Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and is married to Ammon Tirol, a CPA.

His remains at the United Church of Christ of the Philippines (UCCP) will be honored with a worship service at 9 this morning and a memorial service at 2 this afternoon prior the interment at the Victoria Memorial Park.
The late Dr. Ramiro, all throughout his medical practice visibly carried the word of God as part of his personal commitment to spread the Good News with his favorite Bible verse, “And we know that in all things God works for the  good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose(Romans 8:28).”


To perpetuate the evangelistic advocacy of Dr. Ramiro, the bereaved family announced that it will embark on the reconstruction of the United Church of Christ of the Phils (Macasandig Church) in Dr. Luther’s home in Cagayan de Oro.
