A house was razed to the ground while another was partially burned near the Tagbilaran City Airport in a fire incident believed to have been caused by a mentally ill woman.
Roland Fernes, the owner of the houses located near Airport Road in Brgy. Booy, said that the fire on Monday morning was caused by a resident of one of said houses, Marilou Scarte who was playing with matches.
Scarte who is of legal age is suffering from a mental condition, Fernes added.
No one was reportedly hurt during the indecent while the fire was declared under control at 10:20 a.m. through the response of firemen from the city airport.
According to FO2 Dennis Caluña of the Tagbilaran City Fire Station, they received the alarm at 10 a.m. but were unable to reach the burning house due to a narrow access road.
City firefighters tried to reach the area through the airport runway but were not given access as an aircraft was about to takeoff.
