The Panglao police has ruled out the previously speculated rape of a woman who was found dead outside an abandoned resto-bar in the town on Sunday.

According to the police, a medical examination conducted on the body, particularly in the private area, of 30-year-old Mayet Agonias indicated that she was not raped.

Investigators previously considered that the slain victim may have been raped as she was without underwear when her body was found.

Police noted that her undergarment was found inside the abandoned resto-bar while the body was left dead outside.

However, investigators have also indicated that Agonias’ body was dragged from the resto-bar to a lawn outside which may have caused her underwear to slide off.

Chief of Panglao police Senior Insp. Jomar Pomarejos said that the victim possibly fought back when the suspects tried to rape her.

This may have led to her death as the perpetrators allegedly smashed her head with a large rock, Pomarejos added.

Meanwhile, authorities on Tuesday filed murder charges against the suspects in the killing of Agonias, brothers Jimmy and Joseph Buaya from Nueva Fuerza, Carmen.

According to Pomarejos, both suspects were subjected to drug testing but the results came out negative.

The police then declared the case in the killing of Valencia resident Agonias closed following the arrest of the suspects and filing of formal complaints against them before the Bohol Prosecutor’s Office. (Allen Doydora)
