A man facing charges for violating the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) gun ban and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition surrendered to Tagbilaran City police on Tuesday.
Dante Salang, 39, a resident of Brgy. Sambog, Corella, voluntarily presented himself before the city police after an alias warrant of arrest was issued against him.
The arrest of the suspect was ordered by Executive Presiding Judge Fernando Fuentes III of the Regional Trial Court Branch 49.
However, Salang was immediately released as he posted a P-92,000 bail for his temporary liberty through surety bond.
The 150-day election gun ban was implemented by the Philippine National Police and COMELEC starting January 10, 2016, a month prior to the start of the campaign period for national elections. (Weli Maestrado)
